Meet the Team

From our creative designers to our project managers and skilled craftsmen, the team at 91社区 are a fun, friendly and professional bunch that will pull out all the stops to meet our clients needs.

Each edition we鈥檒l do a spotlight on one member of our team, and this time we鈥檙e featuring Icon鈥檚 newest recruit, graphic designer Alan Lowbridge.

Alan joined Icon in the summer of 2019. Having worked in both senior design and freelance roles, he鈥檚 been providing creative solutions for websites, illustrations and videos over the years, so is a great addition to Icon鈥檚 creative team.

Although he鈥檚 used many different software packages over the years, it鈥檚 the specialist CAD software that Icon uses to create detailed plans, photo-realistic visuals, initial 3-dimensional concepts and walk-through movies of exhibition stands which is his new favourite toy, so we鈥檙e keeping him very busy.

2020 is an exciting year for us, as it marks Icon Exhibition & Display Ltd.鈥檚 25th year in business! How time flies!

Whilst our bread-and-butter work still involves designing and manufacturing exhibition stands, we鈥檙e always working on many other types of display solutions too, including interior fitouts for showrooms and reception areas.

We鈥檝e been reminiscing recently about some of the projects we鈥檝e worked on over the last 25 years. There鈥檚 never a dull moment in our industry, and over the years we鈥檝e been asked to manufacture some really quite strange things for clients, 鈥� from a replica cows udder to a 6 meter high replica boiler.

It goes without saying that our customers want good quality and service, but many of them also want an exhibition company that鈥檚 on their doorstep. 2 of our clients, Hainbuch UK Ltd and STOBER Drives Ltd are fellow Cannock manufacturing businesses, both based in Hednesford, who鈥檝e used Icon for years 鈥� and here鈥檚 why in their own words:

Nick Peter from Hainbuch UK Ltd says: 鈥淥ur first exhibition was in 2010, only 2 years after we set up the business. Having never exhibited before, we needed a company with the expertise to guide us and provide us with a solution that would make our first exhibition a success.听 Icon fitted the bill, as the team design, manufacture and build great stands, so all we needed to do was turn up and talk to customers. We did our 3rd听show with Icon in April 2016.听 As our business grows, so does our exhibition presence, and every year our stand has increased in size. The great thing about working with Icon is not having to worry about anything 鈥� just knowing that when we turn up on the day, everything will be OK, and when we鈥檙e finished, Icon will get it all taken down and stored safely.鈥�

Martin Preece from STOBER Drives Ltd says: 鈥淚t鈥檚 great having Icon just down the road, as it means we can always nip round if we need to discuss anything, and we鈥檙e all close to the NEC where we regularly exhibit at the Drives & Controls Exhibition. 听The team at Icon is fantastic 鈥� professional, efficient, amenable and they all work so hard to make each project a success. The stands they create for us always look fantastic- we鈥檙e really glad we鈥檝e got them on board!鈥�

Well earned retirement for Pete Rowley

We鈥檙e sad to be saying goodbye to one of our carpenters, Pete Rowley, who is due to retire just before Christmas.

Pete鈥檚 worked听at Icon for 15 years, but now he鈥檚 turned 65, Pete鈥檚 looking forward to spending more time in his garden, working on his flowerbeds rather than crafting bespoke items for exhibitions.

Pete鈥檚 worked in the exhibition industry since the NEC opened in 1976. In fact, one of Pete鈥檚 earlier jobs was as a shop and bar-fitter, and he was actually part of the team that worked on fitting out the refreshments areas in the NEC.听 Since then, whilst working for Icon as an exhibition carpenter, he鈥檚 spent even more time at the NEC, building bespoke exhibition stands there, and at other exhibition venues around the world, for Icon鈥檚 clients.

Pete says: 鈥淚鈥檝e really enjoyed working at Icon, as the work is so varied and the people are a great team to work with.听 The best thing about working as an exhibition carpenter is that you never quite know what you鈥檙e going to be asked to make next.听 I鈥檝e been asked to make some strange things in my time, but probably one of the oddest things I鈥檝e had to make is a replica cow鈥檚 udder!鈥�

MD of 91社区, Wayne Ball says: 鈥淲e鈥檒l all really miss having Pete around. He鈥檚 been a loyal member of our team over the last 10 years, and his carpentry skills and hard work have definitely played a part in helping Icon develop a reputation for high quality exhibition services.鈥�

The team have presented Pete with a听watch and tankard听as a token of their appreciation of his efforts over the years.
